NORTH READING — Community Planning Commission moved forward with data center rules and zoning amendments. Danielle McKnight, Town Planner and Community Planning Administrator, led discussion on potential zoning approaches for data centers, and the commission agreed to begin drafting a temporary moratorium bylaw. The CPC voted 5-0 to continue the public hearing for the proposed Little Treasures Schoolhouse day care at 245 Elm Street to July 21 and 5-0 to continue the Walmart expansion at 72 Main Street to August 4, pending additional submissions.

The commission also discussed potential zoning amendments for October Town Meeting, including updates to protected use provisions and battery energy storage facility regulations, with McKnight to prepare draft language for review.
