NORTH READING — Community Planning Commission continued two public hearings to May 19, 2026. The Commission heard a floodplain special permit application for two single-family homes on Railroad Avenue in the FEMA-regulated AE flood zone along the Ipswich River, after a detailed presentation by applicant representative Thor Akerley, Wetland Specialist, and property owner Richard Cresta. The Conservation Commission has already approved the project with an Order of Conditions that includes compensatory flood storage and stormwater treatment systems complying with Massachusetts DEP standards.

The Commission also continued the Walmart expansion public hearing at 72 Main Street to May 19 at 7:30 p.m.
