NORTH READING — The North Reading Site Evaluation Committee recommended removing 3 Washington Street from senior center consideration, citing parking and safety concerns. Chair Ron Kern, Vice Chair Ellen Schrantz, and Secretary Lil Hartman led the committee, which reviewed a Department of Public Works analysis. Town Engineer Dan O'Donnell presented parking layouts showing 43 spaces on-site and 10 parallel spaces on Washington Street, compared to 24 and 51 dedicated spaces at the third Meeting House and Aldersgate.

The committee discussed alternative sites including 303 Main Street, 1-5 Central Street (IRP), and 235 Main Street, and indicated plans to seek authorization for feasibility studies using Article 16 funds approved at the October 2025 Town Meeting.
